and i couldnt sleep that match we played today was so good but the news said it might rain tomorrow
so a lot of people cant play soccer!!!

[A week and a half since he started dating Amemiya Taiyou. Matsukaze Tenma is facing a crisis.

A crisis that is, namely, that he has no idea how dating somebody works. He asked Kariya, and got a tearful lecture about how he shouldn't ask this to people who've never dated. He asked Shinsuke and Hikaru, and got a very sincere "I don't know" in response. He asked Shindou, who responded sincerely but unhelpfully that he was perfectly happy spending every day at school with Tsurugi. That's nice, Shindou-san, but Taiyou goes to another school!!

The only answers he could find helpful at all came from Aoi, Aki, Tsurugi, and Coach Endou, whose advices more or less came down to be, "Do what makes both of you happy together."

As he sits next to Taiyou and sips at his juicebox while the boy flips through a monthly sports magazine besides him, Tenma ponders: What is something they both like they can do together?






... Soccer?


...
... ...
... That doesn't sound that different from what they did before they started dating or what he would do with just about anyone else. That's probably not the answer.]

Hey, Taiyou? [he starts, chewing on his straw.] What do people do when they're dating?

[What's a crisis for Matsukaze Tenma has been a dream for Amemiya Taiyou.

In that however things were progressing right now were exactly as he'd hoped they'd be. His mood had gotten so much better. He had a reason to take care of himself. The doctors noticed it too--how he showed up regularly for his checkups. How overnight observations became easier knowing that Taiyou wouldn't try to sneak off to the courtyard at night. He was on his phone a lot, texing his--dare he say it? boyfriend goodnight.

And with their time in different schools, Tenma's panic about the situation goes unnoticed. To him, this was how relationships should start off. Nice, slow...enjoying each other's company.


So it comes as a surprise when Tenma asks, sitting next to him and flipping through the latest sports magazine. A surprise that's met with a quiet laugh, eyes closing as he pauses on turning the page, rubbing the corner between thumb and forefinger.]

What do they do?

That's an interesting question...The easy answer is 'what we're doing right now'.


[He turns the page.]

But I think you mean something more specific, right?

[todokeru]

Mhm. If it's just watching you read, even Tsurugi can do that. He's good at sitting around saying nothing and looking cool.

[Even if his mind is on whatever Shindou is doing at the moment, or what he's going to take to Yuuichi-san after school, or about what he's going to buy at the vending machine during lunch break, Tsurugi manages to look cool. Tenma fidgets where he sits, closing his teeth over the end of the straw and gnawing on it. The juicebox is nearly empty; the straw tastes sweetly of orange juice.]

Not to say that... I don't like sitting next to you and watching you, Taiyou. I do! But I don't know anything about how to properly go out with someone, and I don't want to leave you waiting just because I don't get something. Or do something important wrong.

[When he finally drops the box and leans in, shoving his head between Taiyou and his magazine, his blue-grey eyes are burning with the same determination and resolve that he approaches a soccer game with.]

Do you know? What do you want to do, Taiyou?

[ohisama]

Well, that's no good. Tsurugi-kun isn't exactly who I want to date...Shindou-kun would probably kill me.

[He smiles. Really, it was endearing how Tenma was actively trying to do things 'right'. But honestly, Taiyou could not have stated it any more honestly. To him, just being with Tenma was happiness enough. He was healthy, he was regularly getting the OK from his doctors that he could play soccer, his therapists had noticed a change in his mood...

He never speficied it was love that had cured him, but it sure did feel that way, and being around Tenma was like rolling in a field of flowers. What could top that?

...

But it's when Tenma actively shoves his head between his face and that magazine that an idea sparks in his head, blue eye glittering right back into Tenma's.]

What do I want to do?

Hmm...[Alright, Tenma wins, as he folds closed that magazine and sets it to the side.]

Well, there is one thing I've wanted to do for a long time....Ever since I met you.

Really?

[Taiyou Amemiya, with his name, hair, the brightness of his personality and even his keshin, is truly like the sun. Tenma knew it was cliché and frankly uncreative, but he loved describing the boy as such. Taiyou warmed him up like the sun's rays on his skin, energized him like no other.

But there are times when Tenma Matsukaze seems to personify that shining brightness in the sky more, and this is one of them. His blue-grey eyes widen, the almost-anxious look on his face fading to be replaced by a smile that splits his round face. He's bright -- blinding, almost -- as he grasps Taiyou's hands, now freed from his magazine, and leans in closer to him out of his eagerness.]

Tell me, Taiyou! Let's do it! I'll -- I'll do my best!

Guess what day it is

[Today was a special day for Amemiya Taiyou. A day where he sprang out of bed, put on his school uniform, threw an egg on some toast and was out the door before his mother could bat an eye. One would almost be worried for the boy--as if he were late for some invisible appointment that he kept in his own mind. It...wasn't exactly far from the truth. Today was special, and not just for being blessed with better health than he'd had in years. His feet nearly catch themselves on the edge of the sidewalk, stopping at the cross walks and making his way to Arakumo Gakuen. A hand ghosted over his shoulder bag as he ran, feeling the well sized lump of what looked like a box, a little paranoid in making sure it was in there.

Today was special.

But not because of school. No. School was just something in the way of what he'd wanted to do. And in his mind, the earlier he got there, the earlier classes started and the earlier he got to go to where he needed to be. Concentration was tough, and even Sata noticed that he was with his head in the clouds more than usual. Fitting, Sata often thought, for someone named after the sun, going to this school. Taiyou often threw crumpled up papers at him in answer, but today he simply smiled and agreed. After all, today was pretty special. Sata noticed, knowing just what could be occupying his friends mind to this extent the moment he spoke. The voice he often saved for when something that fascinated him was on his mind. When schoolbooks and math problems had nothing against the level of interest for someone like--]

Ten-ma-kun!

[Taiyou's voice rang out, the school day over and hopping on a train to Raimon as fast as he possibly could. It'd taken awhile, but he'd known exactly where Tenma would be--a place the boy had always told him would be special to him, and where he'd always come to think after school and dribble the soccer ball. He hadn't been wrong in his prediction, setting his bag down pulling out the box and holding it behind his back. His walk, not too unlike a toy soldier as it marches towards the stairs that lead down to the tiled walkway, felt more like a skip in his heart, and he opens his lungs to call out once more to his special someone.]

TENMA!

[He could probably hear you, Taiyou. But he couldn't help it, a laugh escaping only seconds after shouting to the world. Today was special, he kept telling himself, fromthe moment he shoved that toast in his mouth, bolted out the door, hopped on that train, to now.

The sun was setting, the river and sky now a deep amber colour, almost perfectly fitting to Taiyou's hair and uniform. As if his very presence made the sun set.


He can see Tenma's head perk at the sound of his name, and his lips curl unashamedly into a smile.]

[Tenma, on the other hand, didn't think much about White Day. He didn't think too much about Valentine's Day either, and wouldn't actually have done anything super special for it if it weren't for Aoi's insistence. And her physically dragging him into Aki-nee's kitchen to join her as she made something for her boyfriend in America. "How can you fret about not doing enough with your boyfriend at first and then forget about something like Valentine's Day?" had been her complaint, and he really had no excuses then. But Taiyou was happy, and that was all that mattered.

March came with the end of the school year. Graduation, farewells, and anticipation for a new beginning. But as long as he has soccer, nothing changes too much for Matsukaze Tenma. He's dribbling the soccer ball at the riverbank as usual, listening to other children screaming and laughing a distance away, thinking about what course he and Sasuke will run the next morning, and, more importantly, what Aki-nee may be making for dinner that night, when he hears his name being called. A familiar, beloved voice that has him stopping to look up immediately because why would he be here?

Tenma's slate-grey eyes, wide with surprise, lock on to Taiyou, looking brighter and more alive in the light of the setting sun, and his heart skips a beat.]

Taiyou? ... Taiyou!

[The ball is forgotten for a moment as Tenma dashes forward, ready to meet him.]

You didn't tell me you were coming!

[ohisama]

[Taiyou wastes no time in going down the steps to meet his boyfriend, feet leaping to jump on the railing and launch himself down the entire flight to land on the ground at the stairs' base. The innocent way Tenma responds isn't too surprising. White Day was important, naturally, but when you live as far away as he does, you assume to just get a text, if you even remember it at all.

A text just wouldn't do for someone like Tenma, and certainly not in Taiyou's eyes. He had to be there in person, and he had to have something that expressed just how special Tenma was.

That was worth a train ride.

Tenma runs up, Taiyou giving a wink and a soft wave in reply.]

That's the point, Ten-ma~

[His voice is practically sing-song, the way he emphasizes that last syllable. ]

I wanted to surprise you!

[todokeru]

Well you definitely did that!

[The hand that's raised in a wave is quickly grasped as Tenma closes the distance between them, fingers immediately slipping into the spaces between Taiyou's and interlocking, holding tight.

It may be March, but it's still a chilly season in Japan. After hours spent outside kicking the ball and running around, Tenma's cheeks are flushed pink from exposure to the cold. His fingers are colder than usual, though not to any uncomfortable extent, and Taiyou's warmth against them is something he seeks eagerly.]

What's up? Did you want to do something? You could've surprised me by letting me know when you arrived, I would've come to the station to get you.
