(having a simple distraction like this, casually talking about soccer and their family and practice. easy, low effort conversation on a slow road to begin repairing his heart. it was a welcome gesture, to be sure, and already the pain he felt in his chest earlier has become nothing but a dull ache now in the face of pudding piled with candy and a pleasant chat about soccer.
