(shinsuke learned over the course of their relationship that tsurugi had his own way of showing affection. he wasn’t as vibrant or enthusiastic as tenma or hikaru, but that didn’t mean loving gestures were a foreign concept. they were just smaller, a little more personal for whoever was on the receiving end, and really, in shinsuke’s mind, that was more than enough. the way he wraps his arms just a little tighter, tugging him just a few inches closer, it all invited shinsuke to snugly as closely to tsurugi as he wanted.
a smile grows on his face without realizing it, as tsurugi adjusts himself comfortably around his boyfriend. the delicate and touching feeling of tsurugi’s head above his is one of the reasons he doesn’t actually mind his height. it made moments like these all the better.
he knew tsurugi wasn’t as emphatic as shinsuke in regards to dinosaurs, so him offering this chance, to learn and let shinsuke proclaim his love of dinosaurs as much as he wanted, it warms his heart. one of those softer gestures tsurugi is loved for.
at the question, however, there’s a quiet “ah”, followed by a contemplative hum. he was right… the dinosaurs did need to be well cared for and kept healthy. that’s a dilemma.) I guess I’ll have to work on their diets after all… I don’t want them to get sick, then everyone would just be sad.
[It was true. Tsurugi's heart was as big as his soccer was strong, and a significant part of that was dedicated to the boy sitting just underneath his arms. He wasn't all too goo at showing it--stoic expressions and short words often making him seem cold or distant. But it was just the opposite. Tsurugi Kyousuke never said anything more than necessary, but what he said?
Was always necessary.
He listens to Shinsuke think this out, unable to hide the soft smile on his lips as cotton candy is now reconsidered, a diet for fictional dinosaurs now something that needs to be brought to the table for further study.]
They're carnivores. They're going to need something with protein.
(that stoic and dark chocolate outer layer only makes it that much more special when the compassionate and soft, marshmallow inner layer emerges. shinsuke has enough tact not to brag about seeing that side of tsurugi, it was something too valuable and precious to him, and the thought of that being taken away for telling someone else is something he never wants to have happen.
his smile only grows as tsurugi offers suggestions to help with his future (and completely safe) dinosaur park, and he's already thinking up meal plans, and even training regimes for them.
he's going to make the first competitive dinosaur soccer team. and be the coach.) I can make them hamburgers! I'll ask the managers to help me think up a healthy meal plan for them.
[His voice trails off, trying to hide that budding smile that can practically be heard in his words. Of course Shinsuke would say something like that. Something so innocent and pure that even he can't help but melt at the words, pulling him closer to his chest ever so slightly. Not to smother him, certainly, but to snuggly reaffirm his affection.
Because he really can't deny it after a statement like that.]
Sorano would make sure they get all the important nutrients to survive. And make sure they play nicely.
(shinsuke can feel the smile emanating through tsurugi's words, and the knowledge that his boyfriend's smile only grows because of him is a thought that gets a fresh blush on his face, even if tsurugi can't see it.
his hands rub up and down tsurugi's arms (the only area he's able to actually reach), letting himself set in despite being so energetic as the movies opens to the vast expanse of a dinosaur park.) Mhm! The managers are super helpful for everything, Aoi especially! They're all like really great sisters.
[The soft touch along his arms relaxes him, leaning his back against the couch as they settle in and the logos roll...opening up to the park. It's a big familiar, almost like the forests on God Eden, although he'd describe their time there (and his own) as anything but nostalgic.
Still, it was impressive to see on the screen, and he tries to remember all the trivia he'd learned when he'd gone to the museum with Yuuichi.
Who knows, maybe he retained some of it.]
We wouldn't be where we are now without them.
Their resolve is beyond compare. They're our goddesses of victory.
[His chin rests on Shinsuke's head as he speaks, moving his voice to a whisper as the dialogue starts.]
(he nestles himself into tsurugi's arms a little more, his voice muffled by blankets and limbs as he mumbles to himself, lower than a whisper.) You mean more to me than a goddess of victory...
(shinsuke certainly wasn't a coward by anyone's standards. he spoke from the heart and never hesitated on his actions. but even for him, expressing words could be a bit of a challenge when they were that heartfelt.
a flush comes over his cheeks whether tsurugi will be able to say it or not, and he's almost embarrassed at himself for saying something so cheesy. but his thoughts are soon replaced by a view of dinosaurs grazing and roaming around the park, shinsuke shooting up and sparkling in return.) Ahhh! This is my favorite part, look at all of them, Tsurugi!
(he names off every dinosaur as it appears on screen, almost vibrating in excitement as the movie continues.)
[Shinsuke's words are heartfelt, gripping his heart with a soft warmness that he's only felt with those he truly cares for. Shinsuke certainly made that list, close to the top of it, and he can feel himself trying to hide his smile. As someone who always made an effort to look cool, he was surprisingly easy to melt.
You know, if the right person came along.
His arms wrap tighter (but not constricting) around Shinsuke, nuzzling his chin into that hair affectionately with a soft hum. It may have been embarrassing to say for the boy in his arms, but to him, it was one of the sweetest things he'd ever heard. Honey for the soul.
He basks in it for a quick moment, before remembering that they were in fact, watching a movie about dinosaurs escaping from dinosaur zoo.]
Some of them look so alike. It's impressive how you can tell them apart and classify them like that.
[He could with Yuuichi's help....or maybe his phone. But he was only a fraction as into dinosaurs as Shinsuke was. He couldn't help but admire it.]
(his own words are hardly forgotten, still lingering in the back of his mind and fresh in his memory. the shyness is still evident on his face despite his excitement at seeing (animated) dinosaurs on the screen. he didn't want to forget the moment, hardly at all. but saying it without thinking like that... he could've executed that a little better.
but tsurugi is holding him close, able to feel the warmth his boyfriend exudes, and shinsuke is all too comfortable in his position, bouncing a little in his lap as he watches all the dinosaurs go across the screen.
he's seen this movie more times than he can count, but watching it with tsurugi, his boyfriend, for the first time, it makes something about this moment special. the movie seems more alive and vibrant, more enticing.
a soft giggle comes from below tsurugi's chin, shinsuke tilting his head just a little, but still not quite in view.) I've been reading about them ever since I was little! They bring in even more dinosaurs in the sequels, too!
[This was nice. He could feel the body heat between them starting to collect underneath the blanket, cocooning them in a nice, safe sphere of warmth. It was comforting, in a way that was all too familiar to Tsurugi, reminded of when he used to be in Shinsuke's position when it was Yuuichi in his own. The situation was different--after all, a boyfriend is much different than your brother, but that didn't make it any less special.
Just a different kind of special.
Tsurugi's eyes are there to look down in Shinsuke's same direction, where they would meet if either tilted their head just a little bit more. They didn't need to, though. The connection was already made, and Tsurugi makes sure that he doesn't get too distracted from the movie with their chit-chat about the managers or each other, making sure to keep the plot down in his head as they go.
All of the dinosaur names blend together in some ways, a few noticeable ones sticking out as Shinsuke points to the long necked ones, recognizing them right away compared to the more specific species. That one was at the museum, he muses, when Yuuichi had taken him when he was much younger.]
Are the velociraptors in this one? I've seen a clip with velociraptors.
[Tsurugi Kyousuke, actually 12 when it comes to 12 year old subjects.]
(their body heat mixing together only added to the comfort and joy of being able to be this close, this endearingly intimate with tsurugi. shinsuke felt secure and warm in more ways than one. not only was tsurugi warming the space between them in the blanket, but his heart as well. it was a dream come true for the boy to have tsurugi this close, physically and emotionally.
it was something new and exciting, but it made him feel as though things were calmer, more at peace somehow. he still had just as much energy as before they started dating, but he only put that energy toward loving tsurugi.
as the movie continues on (shinsuke is still paying attention despite actions pointing otherwise), clutching his boyfriend tightly in excitement as the story progresses. even if he knows the entire movie by heart, it doesn't take away from any of the fun he has in it.
but tsurugi's question is well timed, the shot panning to the sight of an egg wiggling around, the scientists around it encouraging the young dinosaur inside to break free and see the world. shinsuke taps repeatedly and excitedly on tsurugi's arm, pointing to the screen with a hushed, yet joyful tone, and a smile on his face brighter than all else.) Yeah, there's a lot! One of them is hatching right now!
[Shinsuke's insistence, as well at the characters on screen's encouragement are enough to capture his attention, eyes wide and completely focused on the scene like a mesmerized cat. Nothing, absolutely nothing could tear him away from it now, going from acting almost too old for his age to acting just like his seven-year-old self from long ago.
His grip tightens a little more on Shinsuke, the excitement affecting him too...although his face might not exactly show it. Silence overtakes him, lips pursed and not uttering a peep until he sees that dinosaur hatch.]
...
[The egg cracks, and had Tsurugi any animal ears, they would have perked right up at that sound, leaning just a little closer.]
(it isn't long until the crying baby velociraptor on the screen breaks out of its shell to get its first look at the real world. well, the real world of a lab on a movie set. the scientists and doctors surrounding spread awes of excitement and coos of endearment, yet the mood quickly changes to a rather tense one as they all understand this thing could kill them.
shinsuke, however, is far more interested in tsurugi's reaction to the birth of his favorite dinosaur instead of dealing with the more grown up matters being discussed on the ethics and general sanity of breeding raptors.) See? Isn't he adorable?
(he speaks in a whisper so as not to disturb from the movie, as if his words and actions can still affect the world around him.)
[The discussion between the scientists is nothing Tsurugi isn't used to. While his wonder may be child-like, he knew all too well how this movie played out. He knew what dinosaurs were capable of (hell, he experienced it), and that this movie had a more bittersweet ending and showing the problems such a park could have. But it did nothing to dampen his excitement, watching the creature's body move, and had he been years younger when watching this, would have honestly thought that it was a real velociraptor walking around on set.
Something Yuuichi would have had to shed harsh reality on, he muses.]
Yeah.
[It's not like Shinsuke was wrong, and his eyes flick a lighter shade of amber as he continues to watch, although keeping slight attention on his boyfriend as well. He was good at multitasking.]
Small things tend to be.
[Are you really trying to be cool at a time like this.]

That might make them happy.
