Hmph! [The noise is halfway to a laugh, much different than Shadow's usual expressions. Rouge follows, nose still turned up.]
Good priorities are always in character!
[But as she walks behind him she smiles, sharp-lined eyes softening and brows relaxing, resting her own fingertips just against her cheek. Even if she'd accept him as a robot, it's still a bit comforting to know he isn't. Robots are... Very different, after all, realness aside, and not necessarily... Options.
Gems aren't any use if you're not alive to use em.
[Ever the realist, and probably the one least attached to material things. If Shadow had to pick a gem, it would be a chaos emerald, and only because of the power it yields. Nothing about how glitter or presentation here.]
Think I'm always going to run to save you when you get in a jam?
Mmm, I gotta say... I wasn't sure you'd save me at all.
[Which she's only got to say for the sake of prying, it would seem; she raises a brow in intrigue.]
Not as hard-hearted as you seem, huh?
[For all the reasearch on the supposed Ultimate Lifeform-- and understandably a weapon that Eggman would want in his arsenal-- Shadow really does seem to care.]
[The corner of Rouge's mouth turns up, and she taps her fingers against her crossed arms. After a beat, she reaches out and very gently shoves his shoulder as if to scold him while saying---]
Try not to need to get stitched up too often, sugar.
It's gonna look like you're getting into trouble on purpose.
[And she even gives him a wink, looking far too satisfied with how this conversation has gone.]
[That shove is taken with little to no resistance, obviously whatever she'd done had put him in enough of a good mood. Maybe it was the security of...knowing what--no, WHO--he was that made his heart practically flicker with the hints of happiness.
Maybe it was just because of Rouge's smile, and how it stayed the same throughout the whole journey...whether he was robot or not.
Maybe she'd always believed he was the real Shadow.]
[His hand reaches out and takes Rouge's wrist, the thrusters in his shoes kicking on as they begin to glide. He knows Rouge well enough that she'll take flight and let herself trail behind like a kite, but to be sure he slowly builds up the speed.]
This is why he needs GPS implemented into his programming. I've heard they started doing that with dogs.

[Yes, and you know you will, Shadow.]

[But his voice has lost its edge, proving that even the great Shadow the Hedgehog can't poker face completely through this.]
Despite your materialistic hobbies...your spy skills are useful.
...
And you can bandage up a wound pretty well.
[There, that's the warm tone he lets slip whenever he speaks about more personal matters. When he's off reminiscing about one thing or another.]

You make it sound like I want that attention.

Are you saying you don't?
[She asks, blue eyes pinned on him to study his reaction.]

...
Enough chatter. Omega's waiting for us.
no subject
Predictable. Alright, if you insist.
[She'll lay off him for now.
...Emphasis on the "for now".]

He's not dumb--he knows when Rouge is just playing along.]
...Where -is- Omega, anyway.
[Oh god. Oh god they lost the homicidal robot.]

I told him to stay nearby! He should be here!

[Rouge flips her hand to wave off the thought with a bit of a smirk, though her other hand moves to grip Shadow's more securely. Safety first, okay.]
no subject
[Don't answer that, Rouge.
But he accepts that hand hold, fingers sliding along hers and wrapping around slender, gloved fingers.]
no subject
[can he hear the sincerity in that low chuckle of hers]
no subject
[Was that a chuckle from the great Shadow the Hedgehog? Yes it was.]
